Designing a pinned base plate as per AISC 360 requires a focus on axial and shear load support, rather than bending, as pinned plates are designed to avoid moments. Calculate each of the checks (bearing, shear, and anchor bolt requirements) to ensure they meet the limits per AISC ASD standards. This approach ensures compliance with AISC 360 for pinned base plates under axial and shear loading, without moments.
For pure compression case ,bearing stress is checked with the bearing strength of pedestal
Pu/N*B  < 0.85 (1/Wc) f’c (A2/A1)^0.5 <= 1.7 Wc f’c
Anchor bolt capacities related to project specific need to be updated in the “PROPERTIES” sheet. The availability of the anchor bolt diameters are also need to be updated in the “PROPERTIES” sheet.
Anchor bolt capacities based on code are calculated and the same is mentioned in the anchor bolt capacities table.  For calculating the anchor bolt capacities thread per mm for different bolt diameters are taken from Code ASME B1.13M. Bolt net area is taken from ASME B 1.1. Corrosion allowance need to be given as an input for calculating the bolt net area.
Base plate thickness is checked for two type of load on base plate i.e. bearing pressure, bolt
tension.
a)For bearing pressure cantilever distance is considered in one case from the face of the flange on either side and in another case distance within the flange is considered.
b)For Bolt in tension cantilever distance is considered from bolt center to the face of web. From the above condition maximum thickness required for base plate is calculated and checked with provided size.
